Schedule for the week

BF&VdGBC Schedule for the week:

Sunday evening, 6:30-8:30 PM
Check-in and group playing session.
Mornings:
Monday through Friday, 0900-1200
Warm up, tuning, special topics, music theory, mini-lessons, and masterclasses.

Afternoons:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, 1330-1700
Special topics, Alexander Technique, mini-lessons, and masterclasses.

Evenings: (after dinner)
Monday-- Unsupervised time to rehearse, practice, relax, panic, cry, or tour the nearby neighborhoods of Seattle that surround Seattle Pacific University: fun-filled Fremont or quaint Queen Anne. You can't go wrong in either direction. If you've not been to Seattle before, in the summer months the sky stays light until after 2130 (OK, 9:30 PM).

Tuesday-- The Circle Jam Sessions
Flutes and viols will go to separate rooms, sit in a circle, and play something (almost anything) for your fellow participants in a relaxed atmosphere. The faculty will be there in a "speak-when-spoken-to" capacity. Some of them may even play, if asked.

Wednesday-- Wednesday afternoon is completely free. A time for rest, relaxation, rehearsal, camaraderie, practice, calling home for an express shipment of your favorite stuffed animal. Whatever you want or need to do, that's what this afternoon is for. You could jump on Seattle Metro bus #17 and head downtown for an afternoon of urban adventures: the Seattle Art Museum, the Space Needle, the Pacific Science Center, complete with IMAX theater, the Seattle Aquarium, the famous Pike Place Market, just to name a few things.

Wednesday Evening, however, is action-packed. Starting at 7PM, The combined flutes and viols (plus our guest continuo players) will get together and play en masse in a sort of baroque flute/viol/etc. orchestral kind of playing. Then, around 8:15, the groups will split up and go to their separate rooms for strings only and flutes only sessions. Fun for the whole family!

Thursday--7:30 PM
The Faculty Recital
You get the night off from playing and get to see that the faculty does, indeed, do what they tell you to do (mostly).

Friday-- The Ensemble Masterclasses
Yes, the ensembles that you have formed during the week will get the opportunity to play for all of the participants and ALL of the faculty gathered in one place. Fun for the whole family!

SATURDAY--The Class Recital
(and the warm up before)
0900-1000 The final group class for the respective instruments
1000-1100 Break time, final (and minimal) rehearsal touch-ups, snack, nap, whatever you need because . . .
1100-?? is The Class Recital

After the class recital you'll have the opportunity to have a quick lunch, say goodbyes and race to the airport, or join the faculty at the traditional post-boot camp meal at a local restaurant. The boot camp faculty will provide fruit, cheese, and other snacks and NON-alcoholic beverages for the post-warm-up, pre-recital break.
